1.
We found the sugar We shook it down We left enough for everybody else around Don’t want to come down Don’t want to come down Little boy is lost in the wind Little girl is lost just like him but its not time No it’s not time to go in Are we loosing our way again? Are we loosing our way again? How did you find me, How did you find me, so far from home? I’m getting freedom from Freedom from the Known Up here at the top of this tree We’re exactly where we wanted to be And we said ‘do you want me?’
2.
On the road to McCarthy you drove me insane On your walnut flute down the tracks of the train Air getting thinner the higher we get We have no intention of stopping yet The money I had is running low Since saying goodbye to Mexico But I don’t want to go home Four hours of darkness and the rest is light I never got any sleep under Alaskan skies Fires are burning and the moon is red My body is heavy under the weight of your head The cold wind blowing down off the plains Is the kind that would drive us insane If we were on our own You had no intentions of doing what you should And I gave you every part of me that I could That big old man breathing down your neck He never could keep your spirit in check And your walking fast from that dark house I’m looking at you as you’re storming out The road you walk has already been blown But don’t look back, it’s not your home
3.
Headlights stream over the gate Night sweeps into Haight Tourists surround you where you lay Try to embrace the sunshine state My love, we’ve come a long way Now the wind is picking up as your plane flies away From Chinatown to Mission They’re all coming out to play And I’ve no reason to go Nor a better one to stay Bus doors open Flushed faces pile out Split at the pavement for north and south Past the accordion player no-one hears the sound They’ve got no time to hang around And I’m dreading the morning more than those footsteps in the night Solitary Mission morning without you by my side Sometimes its hard to remain unseen Friday night down Pacific Street And in the Red Light District Keeping it clean But if you don’t like it no one’s stopping you leave

Maple Tree 04:27
From the first I’ve done right Slipped out of your light I didn’t take that moment’s warmth I’m waiting on a better time But I’m faced with big temptations Can I resist them all? Followed me nation to nation Whenever they choose to call. And I’m just into the shade Trying to push these thoughts away But only you I see And as the wind is picking up I’ll take a drink out of your cup And it will be so sweet It’s taken time to understand I know your songs like like the back of my hand You climbed your Maple Tree I’ve never had you and you’ve never had me The clouded moon hangs the same As the morning that you came I press my face against the glass Your songs are all that remain Take my hand its been so cold I’m a fire growing low You’re a chilli pepper burning on my tongue And I’m just into the shade Trying to push these thoughts away But only you I see And as the wind is picking up I’ll take a drink out of your cup And it will be so sweet It’s taken time to understand I know your songs like like the back of my hand You climbed your Maple Tree I’ve never had you and you’ve never had me
